Why Modern Business Phone Systems Work
Dramatic Cost Savings
VoIP systems can save businesses up to 75% on costs by eliminating expensive PSTN lines, reducing maintenance costs, and consolidating vendors. Cloud-based systems require little to no on-site hardware, meaning lower upfront investment and predictable monthly billing. Businesses can even reuse existing hardware when switching to VoIP.
Effortless Scalability
Scalability allows phone systems to grow with business needs, accommodating new users or locations easily. Adding one user or fifty requires no engineer visit, no new cabling, just a few clicks in an admin portal. Consider user count when selecting a phone system, and choose a system that allows gradual hardware upgrades as your team evolves.
Remote Working and Flexible Working Built In
Cloud VoIP systems offer high scalability suitable for remote work. Your team can make and receive calls from desk phones, a mobile app, or softphones on their laptops, using the same number wherever they are. Home working, hybrid arrangements, and multi-site operations all function seamlessly. UCaaS combines voice service, video meetings, and collaboration tools, suitable for hybrid work environments.
Advanced Features That Drive Results
Modern systems deliver call queues, call routing, call monitoring, multi level IVR, ring group configurations, voicemail transcription, call recording, and real time call analytics as standard. Advanced features enhance customer experience and workflow management in business phone systems. A good phone system should integrate with existing software like CRM and helpdesk platforms, Microsoft Teams, or even Google Workspace.
Future Proofing Your Busines
With the PSTN and ISDN switch-off confirmed, every business on traditional lines must migrate to digital voice. Modern business phone systems are increasingly focused on UCaaS, integrating voice, video, and messaging into a single platform ensuring you’re not just compliant, but ahead of the curve.
The Process to Get you Started on our Business Phone System
Step 1: Assessment and Number Porting Setup
We start by mapping your existing voice estate. How many users you have, your current call volume, the types of lines in use (PSTN, ISDN, SIP), and any analogue-dependent devices like alarms, lifts, or payment terminals that may need adapting. We also assess your internet connection for bandwidth, quality of service, and redundancy. Your existing phone numbers are ported across so customers experience no change, you keep the same number.
Step 2: Cloud-Based System Configuration
Your system is configured in the cloud with SIP trunking, reducing the number of physical phone lines needed while delivering superior flexibility. Call flows, auto attendants, IVR menus, call queues, and routing tools are built to match your business processes. If you’re integrating with Microsoft Teams, we handle Operator Connect or Direct Routing setup, including Session Border Controller deployment. Desk phones, softphones, and mobile apps are provisioned for every user.
Step 3: Training and Go Live
End-user training ensures your team is confident with every feature – from call handling and video calling to admin controls and software integrations. We pilot with a small group first, iron out any issues, then go live across your organisation. You start realising cost savings immediately as legacy line rentals and maintenance contracts fall away. Positive customer support and technical assistance improve the deployment of business phone systems, and our team stays with you through the transition and beyond.

What is an on-premise phone system?
An on-premise phone system, also known as a PBX, is a telephone system that’s installed and managed at your business premises. Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can we switch from our current system?
Most migrations take between two and six weeks depending on complexity, number of users, and whether you’re porting multiple numbers. Simple small business setups can go live in days. We always run a pilot phase first to ensure everything works perfectly before full go live.
What happens to our existing phone numbers?
You keep them. Number porting ensures your customers and new customers reach you on the same number they always have. We handle the entire porting process, including DDI ranges and non-geographic numbers.
Do we need new equipment for VoIP systems?
Not necessarily. Businesses can reuse existing hardware when switching to VoIP in many cases. If your current desk phones are SIP compatible, they’ll likely work with the new system. Where new handsets are needed, we supply Teams certified desk phones or softphones that run on any PC, Mac, or mobile device via a mobile app. You can also use wi fi connected devices.
How much can we really save compared to BT?
Savings typically range from 30% to 75% depending on your current setup, call volume, and number of lines. VoIP can save businesses up to 75% on telecom costs. A 35-user firm in one documented case saved 38% monthly and recovered hardware costs in three months. We provide a detailed cost comparison as part of every free assessment.
What support do you provide during and after installation?
Rydal Group provides full project management during migration, end-user training, and ongoing UK-wide support with remote diagnostics. Post-installation, you have access to our service desk, proactive monitoring, and guaranteed SLA response times. We handle firmware updates, system backups, and fault resolution.
Can the system integrate with our Microsoft 365 setup?
Absolutely. Our Microsoft Teams Phone System integration is one of our core specialities. Whether through Direct Routing, Operator Connect, or Microsoft Calling Plans, we connect your Teams environment to the public telephone network. You get video meetings, team messaging, unlimited SMS texting capabilities, and full voice calling – all within the Teams interface. We also support integrations with CRM platforms and other software integrations your business relies on, including add ons for call recording and compliance.

Luke Bonner saved the day again and made many extremely happy by resolving all issues🥂Posted on Google Val AlderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A corporate decision saw us move our broadband and telephone system to a new provider who offered a more favourable package both financially and in terms of the services offered and they commissioned Rydal, who would be responsible for the planning, the supply of all equipment, installation and every part of the operational requirements, both during installation and moving forward. Within our company I have the responsibility for the entire system in relation to requirements and operational needs and therefore my interaction with Rydal was immense. Our order consisted of 75 fixed desk handsets and 11 walkabout telephones over 20 different sites in addition to the broadband installs, new fibre cabling involving (sadly) Openreach, who performance and organisation was abysmal. From the start Rydal sought to introduce any relevant personnel and explain the part they would play. It was also an opportunity to ensure clear lines of communication were established and our expectations could be clearly defined. Our key individual was our Project Co-ordinator, Angela Melvin and I can say with all sincerity that I don’t know what we would have done without her, she was an absolute star and poor Angela had to pick up all the shortfalls of Openreach, which she did admirably. This was quite a sizeable project with many complexities and restrictions owing to the nature of our business where a service had to remain 24/7 and be worked around staff shift patterns etc so hurdles were going to appear from time to time, but each time they were presented she would overcome and resolved in a calm and civilised fashion. Angela was never once phased; she would use such a fantastic phrase when I called her with an issue it was ‘leave it with me’ and you could be confident that it would be dealt with and outcomes fed back. Her tenacity and commitment to task was nothing short of commendable. If anyone heard me speaking with her you would think I was talking to a friend – our professional relationship went from strength to strength. If anything arose that she was unsure of, she was not too proud, given her knowledge and experience, she would refer and discuss with colleagues ensuring at all times that the correct information was relayed back. She was so instrumental to ensure that the installation was planned with absolute precision, and the installers were 1st Class (Simon and Will) who made every effort ensure client satisfaction and their necessary interaction with our IT engineers was superb as was Angela’s. Our ‘Down Time’ on switchover day was absolutely minimal and scheduled accordingly owing to company needs. Personally I cannot thank her enough for her support and assistance. Dion O’Byrne (Chanel Growth & Strategy) was another individual who played a key part from the offset and was always there to ensure customer satisfaction and that all initially discussed requirements to be achieved were fully met upon completion and that we had an effective operating system and equipment. There were No empty promises which can so often be the case when trying to clinch a deal. Training on the system was comprehensive and if in doubt there was always someone to bail you out and put you on the right track. Of course I was sceptical initially as I was happy with our old providers and the system we were using, however now we are all fully equipped, and the system is complete I would recommend Rydal without a shadow of a doubt and I am so very pleased we moved over – the system is excellent, the portal is so user friendly and every single one of them at Rydal are at the end of a phone, more than happy to assist – If they say they will call you back, you can rest assured that they will. If you were in doubt as to whether to change suppliers I would recommend ‘Move Providers’ as I am so sure you would not be disappointed. Val Alder Personal Assistant to the MD and Head of Co.
